ihg

It has finally ended. After nearly 3years of playing in it, it has finally ended. I do not know whether it's coincidence that my ihg career started with a 14-1 lost in handball gals against KR in the prelims grp stage and ended with a 9-6 loss to again, KR in handball gals semis this year. Maybe it's fated that we wont get into finals this year. so that my career can end with this semis loss to kr. if not, I also won't be down with diarrhoea juz the day before such an important match. My first and last semis in ihg handball.

This year's handball team is also one of the strongest that i had ever played in in rh, in terms of shooting and determination and fighting spirits. The first team that I played with in first year was a team of seniors who were willing to go for the ball, but lacking the finishing power (apart from the talented del). When del was heavily marked out, we couldn't do anything at all. Recovery from fast breaks were bad too. Not to mention the lack of experience of the keepers who are both beginners. The team last year aka when i was in year 2, the team that i 'captained', was a team built admist the chaos caused by the roof renovations. del left. charmaine left. Being only a keeper, my experience in teaching the new beginners (the year ones) was lacking. Luckily gy helped out. the rest of the guys in the guys team helped out too, in many ways. The team was defintely strong in defending, evidence is the number of goals that went in. Solid defending kept KR and TH at bay as they could only scored through fast breaks. However, recovery was still bad and attacking ideas were still found wanting.

This year's team - with yx in the team and being the captain, it definitely has a lot of potential. Was still a little worried initially, with yx being a beginner. However, i guess my worries were not realistic. She is a good leader. and definitely someone who is willing to learn. If only she had took up the sport earlier. Decision to bring her down to NUS/Fed training was gd. She learn and absorb and use them. A willing learner. The team bonded well. Though defence wasn't as good as last year's, in terms of attacking, we have joyce and yx shooting, hr as center while our wings n fq can cut. pivots were more stable. yc n hy were defensively gd but they will need to be more daring in attack. too bad. fatigue let us down. too bad i had diarrhoea the day before. shld have drank more water. eeks!!!

Anyway, back to the topic. This year's gals teams - we did well, esp for the teams with round robin style. At least we managed to put up a fight. Though year ones are still lacking in most sports, I hoped they'll be able to join next year and pull in more year ones next yr too. It is always not too late to take up a new sports. I did take up a new sports in rh - handball. And I LOVE it. =)
